The client’s wish, to reorganize an existing house and bring it up to date, eventually resulted in a complete renovation where the entire interior was addressed, and even a large part of the basement was decorated.
Although the layout changed quite a lot, the original concept of the house, namely an extensive symmetrical construction, was still treated respectfully. Thus, the entrance hall remained centrally located, and we also gave the master bedroom a central position in the house, with the nicest view of the garden at the back.
The concept of the use of materials, too, was respected although reinterpreted in the new interior. Hence, white and black marble was used again, occasionally even with a nod to the original detailing.
These marbles were applied to the floors and the wall and furniture upholstery throughout the entire property. Together with smoked oak, touches of brass, and white lacquer, it makes the house feel snug and cozy, despite its seize.
The interventions were not limited to only reorganizing and tackling the interior, however. On the ground floor, for instance, the two far corners were maximally glazed. Because of this, the borders between inside and outside are fading and the link with the beautiful garden is maximally exploited.
