SC-Steelframes BV is expanding and relocating its operations to a new facility in Houthalen-Helchteren to address the increasing demand for prefabricated modular construction. The project involves transforming a former concrete production site, blending existing structures with new developments. A centerpiece of this expansion is the 33-meter-high headquarters tower, built entirely from the company’s modular steel frames. This tower not only functions as an operational hub but also showcases SC-Steelframes’ construction capabilities, with its modular design allowing for a flexible and sustainable building approach.

The concept behind the facility emphasizes integration with its surroundings. Positioned between industrial, residential, and natural zones, the site includes a green buffer zone that enhances biodiversity and incorporates advanced stormwater management systems. This green zone serves as a visual and ecological transition, linking the industrial activities with the neighboring natural and residential areas.

Accessibility and traffic flow are carefully planned, with distinct routes for industrial traffic, emergency vehicles, and pedestrians, reducing congestion and ensuring safety. The strategic relocation of the main access point helps minimize disruption to nearby residential areas, further demonstrating the project’s attention to its broader context.

Sustainability is at the core of the design, with features like rainwater harvesting systems, green roofs, and eco-friendly construction practices that reduce environmental impact while supporting local ecosystems. This expansion not only boosts SC-Steelframes’ production capacity but also reflects a forward-thinking approach to industrial development, where innovation and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
